NHS braces
At Helix House Orthodontics, we offer both private and NHS orthodontic treatment for those who are eligible. Most of our NHS patients are referred to us by their own dentist, but we are happy to treat people who contact us directly as well.

NHS eligibility
We are required to follow strict government guidelines for NHS orthodontic treatment. According to these guidelines, patients must be under 18, and braces can only be provided for medical reasons. Young individuals with severe crowding, protruding or hidden teeth may qualify.
These requirements are detailed in the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Needs (IOTN), which assigns a score to each patient based on the severity of their orthodontic condition. To be eligible for NHS treatment, patients must meet a minimum score.

Our NHS treatment options
Patients who are eligible to receive NHS orthodontic care will be fitted with our metal braces and will have certain appointment times set aside specifically for them. These often occur during school or work hours, so you may need to plan for your visit in advance.

Private patients
If your child doesn't meet the NHS funding criteria, or if they prefer hidden lingual braces or clear aligners, we can still provide treatment as a private patient. We offer flexible payment plans, affordable financing options, and a wide range of personalized orthodontic treatments.

Save your spot today
As a specialist practice, we are limited in the number of NHS patients we can treat each year, so there may be a waiting list. If you believe your child may qualify for NHS orthodontic care, we recommend booking now to secure the next available appointment.
